Workshops for Schools

Sometimes schools and classrooms need a specific lesson or series for a larger group of students, a whole classroom, or even an entire school. IM Project staff will lead your students through engaging workshops on important Social and Emotional Learning issues.

Topics include

  • Consent - These workshops lead youth through an ever deepening understanding of consent and respect for each other’s autonomy. They can be done as standalone workshops, but are also designed so that each successive workshop builds upon the lessons of the previous.

    • Grades K-4: Activity based lessons about asking permission, respecting each others bodies and personal space, and showing friendship in different ways.

    • Grades 5-6: Workshops rooted in experiential learning that cover personal autonomy, setting and respecting healthy boundaries, and supporting others in the ways they want to be supported.

    • Middle School: Our workshops on personal autonomy and healthy boundaries expand to include discussions of healthy relationships (friendships as well as romantic), and handling rejection.

    • High School: These workshops dive more deeply into the necessity of consent in all kinds of relationships, how to set and respect personal boundaries, saying and hearing “No,” as well as discussions of power dynamics and gender roles.

  • Healthy Relationships - These workshops help youth prepare for, enter into, and thrive in healthy friendships and romantic relationships. We approach all relationship discussions from a place of openness and support for healthy relationships regardless of the genders or sexual orientations of the people involved in those relationships.

    • Middle School: We discuss foundational ideas for healthy relationships such as open honest communication, consent, and respect for oneself. We help youth set reasonable expectations for what healthy relationships look and feel like, as well as red flags for unhealthy relationships.

    • High School: Workshops for high school students go deeper into principles of safe and healthy relationships, setting and holding your boundaries, powerful communication, and power dynamics in relationships. While this workshop is not a sex ed class, it does touch on some issues of sexual relationships.

  • Custom Workshops: We know that each student, classroom, and school has its own unique needs and challenges. As such we are happy to work with you to develop a program that meets your specific needs.
